Kimberly Dixon-Mays

Rather than a top-down approach, I try to create learning environments where everyone can contribute and different forms of knowledge are embraced. I also try to make it safe for exploration and experimentation, and to offer ‘ideas for consideration’ rather than absolutes.


Tutterow Fellow Kimberly Dixon-Mays is a poet, playwright and performer. She has earned degrees in theater, gender and ethnic studies, has held teaching assistantships, and attended numerous workshops and residencies. She has seen first-hand how environments of safety and community can be transformative for writers.
