Access Fellowship

The Chicago Dramatists Access Fellowship for Deaf & Disabled Artists is in honor of Charles and Dorothy Malinowski, who were revered storytellers in the Deaf Community.

They liked to use the phrase “Deaf Can!!”as both a battle cry and celebration of Deaf culture and its unique capacities and contributions. Their thoughtful and generous bequeathment has allowed us to create this fellowship opportunity to support and uplift Deaf & Disabled Artists on their creative journey.  We accept two Fellowships a year for a six month term.

The first session runs from January – June and the second from July – December. Fellows receive the following benefits:
1 – Two free classes of the artist’s choice.
2 – Creative access to Resident Playwrights and Instructors for feedback and career advice.
3 – One professional script analysis.
4 – A reading in our Saturday Series (or its equivalent).
5 – A place in our Chicago Dramatists community, with free access to all events.

Applications for 2022 will be available in November. See our Newsletter and Website for more information closer to that time.
