with Resident Playwright Alum Carson Grace Becker
Monday nights for 8 weeks
Students will submit a completed play (or screenplay) upon class registration, to be worked on for the course duration. These scripts will be read by both the instructor and the class. Two-to-three student plays will be discussed per class, along with drafting techniques, including plot and character development, genre, theme, design and marketing tricks. Writers will bring in rewritten sections of their plays on alternate weeks to be read and discussed in class. Playwrights must commit to reading their peers' work before presentation — as well, students must be open to creative experimentation and making changes to their own scripts. Additionally, the instructor will provide either written dramaturgical notes or final feedback in a private conference session.
