Dialogue Intensive: The Minute You Start Flapping Your Jaws
Instructor: Resident Playwright Jon Steinhagen
This class is designed to offer the writer several new approaches to aggressive dialogue and explores why characters begin talking to each other, what they say, how they say, and where it all leads. Students will be required to complete focused exercises on dialogue techniques that question everything people say (or don't) while offering new tools such as Survival, Surroundings, Blather, Salesmanship, Banter, Evasion, Redirection, and Touchy Topics/Sore Subjects (to cite a few) and insights on various ways to write dialogue.
Jon Steinhagen is an award-winning playwright, songwriter, and actor whose shows include Blizzard '67, The Teapot Scandals, Successors, Devil's Day Off, and ACES, and the story collection The Big Book of Sounds.
