Who are the Playwrights?
The Resident Playwright Program is the core program at Chicago Dramatists. Resident Playwrights enjoy six years of new-play development opportunities such as private and public readings, workshops, and productions. Residents receive up to $40,000 in developmental services, free of charge. Below are a few of the programs designed to support our Resident Playwrights.
Resident Playwright Alumni are playwrights who have completed their residency terms with Chicago Dramatists.
The Associate Artists at Chicago Dramatists are talented theatre professionals throughout Chicago that make all of this work possible and our Associate Dramaturgs provide script-development expertise through our Script Lab program.
While in residence, Resident Playwrights actively embrace our core values of connectivity and community by supporting their fellow writers; they serve as moderators and dramaturgs for each other and for the Network Playwright and Tutterow Fellow programs.
