Born in California and raised in Iowa, upcoming productions include Harmless with TimeLine Theatre Company (Chicago) and The Meek with A Red Orchid Theatre (Chicago). Past productions include Heritage with American Theatre Company (Chicago), The Earl and 4 Murders with A Red Orchid Theatre, Eric LaRue with the Royal Shakespeare Company (London and Stratford-Upon-Avon), American Dead with American Theatre Company (Chicago), Eagle Hills, Eagle Ridge, Eagle Landing and twentyone with Spring Theatreworks (New York) and The Last Barbecue with The Aardvark Theatre Company (Chicago) and 29th Street Rep (New York). He has also worked with various theatres and development groups such as The Playwright's Center in Minneapolis, No Shame Theatre in Iowa City and Chicago, The New Group and The 42nd Street Workshop in New York and is a resident-alum with Chicago Dramatists, He is also an ensemble member of A Red Orchid Theatre and has been commissioned by Steppenwolf Theatre Company, The Goodman Theatre (Ofner Prize), TimeLine Theatre Company, Writers' Theatre and was the recipient of the League of Chicago Theatre's first Emerging Artist Award. Brett also teaches writing at Northwestern University and lives in Chicago with his wife, artist Kristen Neveu and new baby, Lia.
